CTO appreciates the allied members continued support of the work of the organization through these difficult economic times. Researchers indicate that there is a slight, but noticeable, uptick in travel to our region and we hope that this good news will have a positive effect on your business.
Please be advised that this is an election year for CTO and, as stipulated in the Organization’s By-Laws, CTO Allied members are required to elect, from among the allied membership in good standing, five (5) companies they wish to represent their interest on the CTO Board of Directors.
Allied membership is open to any company interested in or doing business in the Caribbean and falls into one of the several categories listed on the allied application form. The only requirement for eligibility for a seat on the board is that the company is a member in good financial standing with the CTO.
Holding a position on the CTO Board and contributing to the activities of the Organization are the most powerful ways to be involved in the development of Caribbean tourism. CTO will ask you to commit to serving on one of its technical committees where your expertise will have the most positive impact on the Region. Serving on the Board of Directors affords these additional major benefits, among others:
1. The ability to influence the decisions that affect the future of Caribbean tourism;
2. The opportunity to interact more closely with Caribbean tourism’s policy and decision makers;
3. Gaining access to timely market intelligence and industry trend information.
If your company is interested in a seat on the Board of Directors in the upcoming elections, please do the following:
1. Ensure that your company is a member in good standing. If you have been putting off applying, please take a moment now to complete and submit the attached membership form.
2. Send us a brief bio, not exceeding 250 words, and a photo of your company’s representative who would hold the seat;
3. Provide a statement (up to 500 words) of your company’s involvement in Caribbean tourism in the past year and the areas in which the company wishes to become more involved.
Be aware that CTO will ask you to be responsible for all costs associated with your travel as a member of the Board of Directors. There is a minimum of 2 Board meetings per year, one in New York during Caribbean Week and the other in a CTO member destination.
Please send all documents to ctony@caribtourism.com. We will post Information provided on our website, www.OneCaribbean.org for the information of your allied colleagues. Elections will take place in early October, at a location and date to be determined. These details will be communicated to all allied members with directions on the voting procedure.
The 5 companies below currently represent the Allied members having been elected to serve the 2008-2010 term. All are eligible to run again as long as they are in good financial standing:
• Caribbean Travel & Life
• FirstCaribbean International Bank
• MarryCaribbean.com
• The Robb Report
• Travelocity
We look forward to hearing from you and wish you a pleasant summer.
