Vacancy: Manager, Tourism Development Services
Cayman Islands Department of Tourism
DEADLINE: JULY 14, 2008(Salary Range: CI $61,224 - $82,356 per annum)
Reporting to the Deputy Director (Product Development), this post will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects and activities which will enhance the quality, competitiveness and sustainability of the Cayman Islands' natural, cultural and built tourism product. Key responsibilities include:
* Work closely with the development of new attractions locally by supporting appropriate standards of operation, advertising/ showcasing as necessary the growing Caymanian tourism product
* Conduct research and provide planning advice on new developments, such as hotels, attractions, etc.
* Comment on rezoning applications and matters which may have an environmental impact on the Cayman Islands tourism product
* Support the sustainable development of the Cayman Islands tourism sector and the creation of awareness of such initiatives
* Provide support to the various industry partners to ensure growth in the Caymanian tourism product
* Coordinate activities related to the regular Tourism Development Services Unit Meetings so as to build a high quality of professional exchange and development among the Unit’s personnel
* Represent the Department of Tourism at local and international Conferences/Promotions in presenting the work of the Unit/Department.
* Interact with all aspects of the public and private sectors locally, keeping open lines of communication between DoT and the Industry
* Keep abreast of developments globally in the area of tourism product development, cruise and marketing so as to allow the Cayman Islands to remain on the cutting edge of the tourism business
* Work closely with the other members of the team in planning and coordinating the overall unit and department’s objectives.
* Provide a review of current work, assignment of tasks, staff training and development, promotion of professional development and staff recognition
Applicants should possess the following education, experience, attributes and skills:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Tourism Planning and Development or a related tourism field, with a minimum of five (5) years experience in field of expertise
* Proven track record of Project Implementation, Operations & Reporting within a dynamic business environment
* Work related to the field of sustainable development would be a definite asset
* Successful experience in Supervising Teams, Budgeting & Expense Control is also necessary
* Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver quality results within demanding deadlines
* Excellent command of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, Internet (as a research tool)

Inter American Development Bank Courses
The IDB is actively exploring and applying distance-education technologies in order to facilitate each phase of its project cycle (from project identification and preparation, to project management, implementation and evaluation).
