There are several main industry events on the CTO calendar. One if the renowned Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference, now into its 31st year. CTC is the climax of a series of business sessions involving CTO’s Tourism Ministers, Officials and Private Sector Directors on the Board. It represents a major forum for networking at a high level between the tourism public and private sector, both from in the region and the marketplace.
CTC also provides educational sessions in which the tourism issues of the day are discussed and solutions sought.
CTC provides an excellent opportunity for the host country to show off its products to the leaders of the Tourism Industry and to those members of the distribution system and the press who sell and/or promote Caribbean Tourism.
Another main event is the Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development. The Conference brings together regional and international tourism specialists, Ministers of Government, Directors of Tourism, as well as developmental experts from the cultural, environmental and academic spheres and the local communities to share their experiences and offer solutions to the problems in the development of sustainable tourism.
The Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development is part of the information dissemination and regional awareness component of CTO’s Strategy for Sustainable Tourism. It looks at how member states can design and implement sustainable tourism policies and programmes, offering a regional forum for information exchange on the successes and pitfalls of national, regional and international initiatives.
