CARIBBEAN DIASPORA FORUM

The Helmsley Hotel
Wednesday, June 9, 2010
5:30 - 8:30PM

The Caribbean Diaspora is an important and invaluable ally and partner in helping to achieve one of CTO’s goals - that of increasing travel to the Caribbean. It’s also not only about Diaspora travel, or travel to the land of their or their parents’ birth it’s about the Diaspora influencing anyone to travel to the entire Caribbean.

However, in order to effectively “sell” the Caribbean, the entire community must be armed with the proper and relevant information, and the Diaspora must be made to feel a part of the process.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) will host a Diaspora Forum as part of its program for Caribbean Week in New York.  The Forum will seek to define the Diaspora’s perceived role as ambassadors for the region and address a series of hot topics facing the Caribbean tourism industry.

The Forum will be an exciting "Rapid Cross Fire" panel where members of the Diaspora engage in a thought-provoking discourse with ministers or directors of tourism, with input from the audience. The discussion will revolve around the prospects for the Caribbean tourism sector; how the Caribbean Diaspora can be mobilized to contribute to tourism growth and recommendations from the Diaspora on the way forward.
