The Caribbean Tourism Educators’ Forum is a three (3) day intensive workshop designed for tourism/hospitality educators at the post-secondary level of the education system in the region and also tourism/hospitality trainers from both the public and private sector. The idea for such a Forum was first conceived in 1998 and the first was held in 2000. It has since become an annual event.
The main objectives of the Educators’ Forum are as follows:
- To update the knowledge base of tourism/hospitality educators on current trends and issues in tourism both regionally and globally and prepare them to fully understand and articulate the changes and challenges the industry will face in the 21st century.
- To provide tourism/hospitality educators with a forum to discuss the special challenges/issues facing the delivery of tourism education and training in the region and recommend some concrete strategies for addressing these.
Educators/trainers involved in the delivery of tourism/hospitality programmes at the post-secondary level as well as those involved in the development and administration of these programmes are the target audience for these Educators’ Forum.
As early as February of each year, an information package is mailed out to all the post-secondary tourism/hospitality institutions within the region. The package contains information on the date and venue of the Forum, topics to be presented as well as the names of presenters, accommodation available for Forum, registration forms and how to register.
