One aspect of the CRSTDP is to strengthen the Information Technology capability of the beneficiary countries.
Objective:
1. To expand the range and improve the quality of critical information available to Caribbean decision makers and planners, both private and public sector 2. To improve the skills of tourism professionals in the region through delivery of specialised training programmes 3. To improve the various information systems necessary to improve the tourism management and development process
Components:
1. Evaluate CTO’s Internet strategy and make recommendations for its further development 2. Assess the impact of the internet on Caribbean tourism and make recommendations for further improvement 3. Building upon the current statistical and tourism information systems in the region, develop a regional tourism management information system 4. Organise and implementation of two training workshops in the areas of marketing tourism on the internet and the development and management of tourism internet sites
Projected Results: 1. CTO’s Internet Strategy evaluated and recommendations made for its further development 2. Impact of the Internet on Caribbean Tourism assessed and recommendations made for further improvement 3. Regional Tourism Management Information System developed 4. National officials trained in marketing tourism on the Internet and development and management of tourism Internet sites.
