Star-Studded Line-Up for St. Kitts Music Festival 2020

The Ministry of Tourism and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority along with the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee are pleased to announce that Gladys Knight, Beres Hammond, Anthony B. and more esteemed artists have joined the final roster of musical talents who will be performing at the 24th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival taking place June 25-27, 2020.

“We are excited to have secured such an outstanding group of artists to perform in this year’s St. Kitts Music Festival,” said the Hon. Mr. Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce. “Our strategy is to grow the festival every year in a way that will appeal to both local and international audiences, therefore creating the right mix of performers is critical to our success. This particular selection of veteran and emerging talent is certain to draw music lovers from from all of our key source markets as well as from our Federation, thereby providing direct benefit to our citizens and economy.”

Racquel Brown, CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, added, “For the past two years in a row, we have broken air passenger arrivals records for the month of June and hotels have been sold out for the dates surrounding music festival. To keep this momentum going, we have developed comprehensive integrated marketing programs to specifically target those individuals who are most likely to attend this event, which has become a key driver of tourism in early summer.”

Thursday night is typically known as reggae night or “jump up” night, as the lively, energetic vibe from top powerhouses in soca, reggae, dancehall and more are known for getting the crowd on their feet from the opening act right through to the last. Friday night continues the captivating vocal action, with show-stopping performances from a variety of musical greats and new talents. On Saturday night, local talent opens the evening for popular acts who are well-known for international hits that the audience often sings along to.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 24, the Music Festival kicks off with a welcome reception hosted at the Christophe Harbour Marina followed by an Escape Fete held at Salt Plage. Following the three nights of performances, the event concludes with the White Sands all-white party at Carambola Beach Club on Sunday, June 28.

Now entering its 24th year, the St. Kitts Music Festival attracts both locals and visitors alike. It features a wide range of musical styles on the popular market, including R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary music. British Airways Adds New Flights for London to Saint Lucia

LONDON, February 13, 2020 – The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority is delighted to confirm the introduction of additional British Airways direct flights from the UK to Saint Lucia.

The two additional weekly flights from London Gatwick (LGW) to Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) on Wednesdays and Saturdays will increase the ease of access to one of the Caribbean’s most popular destinations bringing the total to nine British Airways flights per week across the winter schedule.

The additional services will commence operation on October 28, 2020 and run until March 27, 2021 with no onward tag.

The decision by British Airways to increase the flights comes as Saint Lucia closed 2019 with over 400,000 stay-over arrivals.  For the period January to December 2019, Saint Lucia recorded 423,736 stay-over visitors; the highest in the island’s history.

The UK figures for the year are up 6.2% totalling 83,677 visitors. UK holidaymakers lead the way in terms of duration of stay average at 10.76 nights per visit.

Tourism Minister, Honourable Dominic Fedee commenting on the added services stated; “The increased services from the UK market provides travelers with even more options of getting to Saint Lucia. British Airways is one of the biggest airlines to the Caribbean out of London and we celebrate the extension of this new service to Saint Lucia.”

Director of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority UK & Europe, Patricia Charlery-Leon said: “We are absolutely thrilled that British Airways has added these flights. We have a longstanding partnership with the airline and the UK team and want to thank them for their support of Saint Lucia. British Airways has already added additional flights this summer so these new winter flights will help us to continue our momentum during our high season.”

Flying Boing 777 aircraft, the long-haul BA flights will depart London Gatwick (LGW)at 12:20 (GMT) to arrive at Hewanorra International (UVF)at 17:15 on Wednesdays and then again on Saturdays to allow for better connections.

Royal Caribbean Signs Agreement with Antigua for First Royal Beach Club

MIAMI, Feb. 13, 2020 – Royal Caribbean International and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, along with the assistance of the Consulate General of Antigua and Barbuda, have signed an agreement for the company’s first Royal Beach Club. The agreement marks the start of the planning and development for the Royal Beach Club scheduled to break ground later this year.

Created exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests, the Royal Beach Club at Antigua will sit along more than a half-mile of pristine beachfront and combine the island’s striking beaches with the cruise line’s signature service and amenities. The ultimate beach club experience will offer guests exceptional views from private cabanas and a stunning pool with a swim-up bar, complemented by locally inspired experiences. Featuring regional fare, island-style BBQs, live music, along with thrills such as jet skis, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and a family splash pad, the beach club will make for an unforgettable day at the beach.

“The Royal Beach Club will deliver a memorable beach day to our guests,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Together with the government of Antigua and Barbuda, we will bring to life an experience that will bring more visitors to these idyllic islands and create significant economic benefits and opportunities. The cruise line has also committed to bringing Symphony of the Seas to the island nation with a call on November 3, 2020. Docking at the island capital of St. John’s, guests on board Symphony will have the opportunity to experience the rich culture and heritage of the island, delectable delicacies and some of the world’s best beaches.

Find Your Caribbean Rhythm at the Second Annual Grenada Music Festival

St. George’s, Grenada W.I. – February 14, 2020 – Music lovers from far and wide are invited to get groovy and dance the night away during the 2nd annual Grenada Music Festival. Organizers of the event announced a diverse line-up of performers and international award-winning artistes who will headline the three-day event, scheduled for June 5-7 in the picturesque, Quarantine Festival Village as the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) celebrates a second year of Festivals in the region where the rhythm never stops.

At the event’s launch, held on Monday, February 3 at Pier 57 in St. George’s, Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) Patricia Maher thanked the organizers QWest Promotions for their investment and adding to Pure Grenada’s diverse calendar of activities. She invited the visitors to, “Find your Caribbean rhythm and come to our Grenada Music Festival early June for a one love musical experience with Grenadians and you will have the time of your life. We had a marvellous time last year at the beautifully located Quarantine Park and while you are here, you can explore and immerse yourself in everything Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique has to offer.”

The festival kicks off on June 5 with a heady mixture of jazz, reggae and rhythm and blues. Known for their hits ‘Fresh’ and ‘Celebration’, two-time Grammy award winners Kool & the Gang will hit the stage with their funky, upbeat, soul vibe. Also performing that evening will be Barbadian jazz saxophone legend, Arturo Tappin and the timeless, Marcia Griffiths, formerly of the world-renowned reggae trio, I-Threes, with her captivating love song performances.

On the June 6, the energy will be turned-all-the-way-up with headline act, two-time Grammy award winning Jamaican dancehall artist, Shabba Ranks. With international chart-topping hits such as ‘Ting-A-Ling and ‘Mr. Lover Man’, Shabba will take music lovers down memory lane with his jamming catalogue of tunes. He will be complemented by the smooth musical stylings of rising reggae empresario, Romain Virgo and world-famous Jamaican reggae icon Cocoa Tea will cap the night’s performances.

The festival will culminate on Sunday, June 7 with a pulsating fusion of regional and local soca acts including the energetic Krosfyah out of Barbados and Nadia Batson and her band SASS from Trinidad. Local artists including: Lavaman, Lil Natty and Thunda, Dash and Jab King will also take the stage for the final night
