Tributes to Our Friend and Colleague Carolann Giles 1970 – 2026 Database/Statistical Assistant, CTO
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has lost one of its most devoted and cherished team members with the passing of Ms. Carolann Giles on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Over many years of dedicated service, Carolann became a respected and familiar presence within the Organization and among regional tourism partners. She will be remembered for her professionalism, kindness, and the warmth she brought to those who had the privilege of working with her.
Carolann devoted almost twenty-seven years of faithful and dedicated service to the CTO, having joined the organization on 9 September 1999. Throughout her years with us, she served with unwavering commitment, professionalism, humility, and care.
She began her journey with the organization as Receptionist/Clerk Typist and, in 2005, transitioned to the Research Department as Database/Statistical Assistant. In that role, Carolann managed and maintained the organization’s statistical databases and provided invaluable support in the preparation of statistical reports and research documents that informed and supported the work of our member countries and partners throughout the Caribbean tourism sector.
Carolann’s contribution to the organization extended far beyond her technical and administrative responsibilities. She was a dependable and caring team member whose quiet dedication, kindness, and thoughtful spirit positively impacted colleagues, members, stakeholders, and all those she served over the years. Many across the region would have benefitted from her work, often without realizing the steady and committed individual behind it.
As an organization, we are deeply grateful for Carolann’s years of loyal service and the lasting contribution she made to the work and mission of the CTO. Her passing represents not only the loss of a valued employee, but also the loss of a cherished member of our wider tourism family.
The Council of Ministers, Board of Directors, management, staff and the entire CTO family extend deepest condolences to her dad, Alban St. Hill; her siblings, Dean, Dave and Neil St. Hill and the rest of the St. Hill family and assure them of our prayers and support.

I was deeply shocked and greatly saddened when I learned of the passing of my colleague and friend Carolann Giles of the CTO. Carolann and I have known each other for a long time because we worked together across a great expanse of ocean on Tourism Statistics. Although she was in Barbados and I am in the Bahamas, the distance never seemed to matter.
We never met in person, but she would call me from time to time for the numbers for CTO and we would chat about the numbers and how everything was going for each of us. I always enjoyed talking to her on the phone her kind heart always came through in her voice. Carolann was also one of my Facebook friends.
Carolann was a sweet, kind good natured person and this always came across in her phone calls or her emails.
CTO has lost a stellar employee. She will be greatly missed.

Carolann was a remarkable person—always patient, supportive, and genuinely kind. Her warmth and sincerity were evident in every interaction, and her presence left a lasting impression on all of us. Even through a phone call, her appreciation and positivity could be felt, as though her smile carried across the line.
Her passing is a profound loss for the region and for all who had the privilege of working alongside her. We will remember her not only for her professionalism but also for the humanity and grace she brought to her work.
May her family and the CTO community find strength and comfort in the cherished memories she leaves behind.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Carolann Giles.
Carolann’s many years of dedicated service to the Caribbean Tourism Organization, and the kindness, professionalism, and warmth she shared with partners across the region. Her quiet commitment and gracious spirit clearly touched many lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, colleagues, and the entire CTO family during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories she leaves behind, and may she rest in eternal peace.
I remember Carolann when she first came to CTO. I felt so much kindness and genuine concern emanating from her. It was a pleasure working alongside Carolann, she made my days at CTO sweeter. I hope to see her on that «Great getting up morning ».
